Allergy Shots are CANCELLED until further notice

Last updated: April 11, 2023

Allergy shots are currently being offered on a limited basis with Magenta Health clinic nurses. Please review the following page for more information: https://www.magentahealth.ca/allergy-shots

The below message was posted on March 17, 2020.

Regrettably, due to multiple factors, including the spike in respiratory viruses (Flu, RSV, COVID-19), as well as the ongoing industry wide nursing shortages, allergy shot appointments continue to be unavailable at Magenta Health at this time.

The hope is that once the high demand for nursing support during flu shot season subsides, we will be able to offer allergy shot appointments again in the coming months.

We thank you for your understanding.

For those looking for additional information, we consulted with an Allergist who offered the following information:

PRE-SEASONAL IMMUNOTHERAPY

If you were undergoing pre-seasonal immunotherapy, there now isn’t enough time to build up your immunity given the current course of the pandemic.  Consider treating your symptoms this season with allergy medications.

CONVENTIONAL IMMUNOTHERAPY

CONVENTIONAL IMMUNOTHERAPY - BUILD UP PHASE
Should pandemic conditions be lifted, plan your next injection 8 weeks from your last injection at 10% of the dose.

CONVENTIONAL IMMUNOTHERAPY - MAINTENANCE PHASE
Should pandemic conditions be lifted, plan your next injection 8 weeks from your last injection at 50% of the dose.

The above is NOT medical advice.  You are strongly encouraged to consult with your own Allergist before starting any injections in the future.

If you wish to retrieve your allergy shots that are currently stored at a clinic, please e-mail contact@magentahealth.ca and include where your shots are stored, and a few times in the coming week that you can stop by to pick them up. Please DO NOT drop by the clinic before we respond to you.  Our response will be delayed as our staff are very busy and prioritizing ongoing pandemic work.

Please note we are not able to provide supplies or any advice related to how to self-administer injections as we do not consider this advisable in the circumstances due to the risk of significant reactions. We strongly encourage you to consult with your own Allergist before starting any injections in the future.
